Mason's Family

Mason is a part of a preschool co-op of three girls and three boys in our ward and he absolutely loves it! This week, he learned about families and he made his own family out of marshmallows, chocolate chip eyes, toothpicks and umbrellas (because it rains a lot here). Above (left to right) is Mom, Mason and Dad (he forgot to make Leah). He was very proud of his creation.

Leah and Mason

Mason will spend hours playing with his bulldozers and dump trucks in the back yard filling them up with water or dirt, then dumping it out and doing it all over again. I cannot keep him clean anymore! He gets so dirty that I have to wash him several times in the shower when he comes in the house just to get the dirt out of his hair. He is a boy, that's for sure!

Here is Leah holding Bull. He is the only frog that lived out of the seven frog eggs we got in the mail. Even Joe likes this frog! When he sees us by his container, he perks up and stares at us to let us know he wants a cricket. He is a lot of fun to watch and the kids are happy to finally have a pet.

This is How We Enjoyed the Beautiful Day Today!

These are pictures of Leah and Mason at the park. The weather is absolutely beautiful today and it is supposed to reach 100 degrees this weekend. Summer is here!

Twins!

Here are the 'twins'! So, after years of headaches, Joe finally broke down and got his eyes checked. He is surprised at how clear everything is now! Mason keeps looking at Joe when he has his new glasses on and says, "We're twins Dad! We both have 'dwasses'. "

Leah is feeling a little left out because she is the only one who doesn't wear glasses. We keep trying to tell her that she is the lucky one, but she won't listen. She was actually pretty upset and cried for a while when she found out that Joe needed glasses.

First Dentist Appointment

Mason has been anxiously awaiting his first dental appointment for a quite a while now and he was sure that they would give him a truck toothbrush. He didn't the toothbrush he wished for, but he was just as excited to get an orange balloon and orange toothbrush (his favorite color). He did great and he felt like such a big boy:)

Simone

Mason LOVED playing with Simone when we went to visit at Tim and Julia's house. He is always asking me to pull up pictures of his "friend" on our blog and this morning, he got a chair and pulled down her picture off the fridge and carried it around the house for most of the morning. Tim and Julia, the kids are really hoping you end up coming for a visit this summer!

Hike Around Lackamas Lake

It was such a beautiful day today and Joe was away on a campout with the Boy Scouts, so I decided it would be a great day to get out of the house and go on a hike. Me and my mom took the kids around Lackamas Lake and it was a lot of fun! Leah and Mason love hiking.

Mason is pointing at two ducks perched on a log in the lake.

The kids stopped at every side trail to get to the water. By the end of the hike, they were pretty wet and Mason was only wearing his underwear and a shirt.

The kept going in the water deeper and deeper until they were soaked:)

The kids are looking at Grandma Camp's dog, Rez

Leah tried walking on this log, so Mason had to try it too but he would only do it with Grandma's help

Beautiful scenery

Leah and Mason without pants (all the kids along the trail noticed:)

I had to get a picture of Mason's dirty undies

Pictures at Mason's Kindermusik Class

Mason loves Kindermusik! Leah tags along and enjoys it as well (even though the class is for kids ages 1 1/2 to 3 years old). Anyways, the theme this session is transportation, which strikes a cord with Mason.

Leah comes along and helps out the teacherMason is 'flying' around the room to an airplane song

This is mason in his 'boat' floating around the room (and jumping)

This was taken during story time. There is a page about race cars and Mason always reminds his teacher that his dad has a race car (not quite!).

Mason was mad in this picture because he couldn't make his scarf fly behind him like Leah was doing.

Mason's Birthday

Mason had a very fun and exciting birthday! I made the kids a special breakfast this morning and we hung around the house through the afternoon.

At 4:30, we met a friend of ours (Thayne) at his work and Mason and Leah got to have fun on some construction equipment.
(Thank you Thayne for letting us come today! You really made Mason's day:)

First was the bulldozer. Mason got to ride around with Thayne and then Joe got a turn to drive with Mason. I'm not sure who had more fun, Joe or Mason:)
The boys getting out of the bulldozer
Mason and Mom snuggling and trying to stay warm while Leah gets a turn riding in the excavator

Next came the giant excavator. In this video, Mason is inside the excavator with Thayne. He got to help dig in the dirt, splash in a huge puddle and honk the horn about a million times:)

Digging with the Excavator

What fun! Thayne even gave Mason a toy excavator and he couldn't wait to open it.

After riding the construction equipment, we headed home and had a little birthday dinner with Grandma Camp. Then we had cake and Mason opened his presents.

Mason's face is all messy because I couldn't keep his little fingers away from the cake (chocolate cake with chocolate whipped cream frosting and topped with crushed Oreos (dirt) and a dump truck, fork lift and backhoe).

It took two tries for Mason to blow out the candles:)

Mason got lots of fun presents! This is what he got for his birthday:
Cars Lego building set (Grandma Camp)
A fluffy orange (Mason's favorite color) blanket with a dump truck on it (made by Leah)
A remote control monster truck, transformer (bumble bee) and a car money bank (from Mom and Dad)
Two hats (from Grandpa Fenimore)

Here we all are just before we called it a night. I took of for a yoga class just before bedtime and Joe said the kids were asleep within minutes of being put to bed:)

Happy Birthday Mason!

Mason's the Birthday Boy Today:)

HAPPY
3rd
BIRTHDAY
MASON!

Mason has been so excited all week for today to come. He was so mad yesterday because he just couldn't wait another day! This afternoon, he gets to go ride a bulldozer and he is really looking forward to it. I still can't believe that my baby is three years old!

Mason is Turning Three Years Old This Week!

Here are some pictures from when Mason was born (some are kind of blurry):

This is my belly right before I went into the operating room for my C-section.

Here is Mason! He was about a month early and weighed 5.5 pounds. I always forget how small he was until I look and these pictures. I got to see him for a few minutes after he was born and then he was taken to the NICU and I didn't get to hold him until the next morning. It was really difficult for me to be away from him but Joe stayed with him to make sure he was OK.

Daddy giving Mason his first bath a few hours after he was born. Mason was not too happy:) (Thanks Carson for helping me flip this video!)

This is Leah seeing Mason for the first time the day after he was born. It was love at first sight for her! The first thing she said was, "Oh! He is so cute! Can we take him home with us?"

This is a few days after Mason was born. He stayed in the NICU for a week after he was born to give him time to get used to eating. Notice the feeding tube in his nose. He hated it and was always trying to pull it out. Anyways, he always fell asleep before he had eaten all he was supposed to, so they would feed him the rest through a feeding tube.

He was so little! Those days in the hospital were so difficult and tiring. I was sooooo tired in this picture. This is the day we took Mason home.

Here he is snug in his car seat ready for his trip home. He is swimming in it!

And here he is in his bed, right next to Mom and Dad's bed, at home!
Mason at his 1st Birthday party.
This is a picture of a picture of Mason right after his 2nd Birthday. He got his first glasses at 20 months and had an eye surgery at 25 months. Now, the thought of Mason without glasses is odd. They suit him quite well! He is quite a little man.

For his third birthday, he has requested a 'Dozer' Birthday and I'll post pictures after the big day:)
